About 5 hours after posting that I was a little board waiting around for our scheduled c-section date, I woke up in the middle of the night and my water had broke. We headed to the hospital, were checked in, and 4 hours later got to meet our precious little girls. Kiersten Treacy was born at 6:14 AM, weighing in at 5 lbs 6 oz. Erin Emery was born at 6:16 AM, weighing 5 lbs 1 oz. Both girls were breathing great and after a quick check in the the operating room were able to return to our room with us for the remainder of our stay. We spent 3 days in the hospital, mostly so that I could recover from the c-section, and then were discharged to take our new little family home.
We went to see the doctor the next morning to check in because there is a little concern about the amount of weight that they have lost since they were born, about 10% of their birth weight, and now we are trying really hard to fatten them up before our follow up appointment on Friday.
The first few nights were rough... But I am excited to say that last night the girls did not wake up between feedings, which was wonderful. Right now we are on a 3 hour feeding schedule where we are trying to breast feed and then supplement with formula because they don't seem to be getting enough through just breast feeding. I worry about the day the Wayne goes back to work because I don't know how I am going to feed both babies once I am home alone.
